Today, two of Ms. Peterson's FFA students, Molly Carraher and Neeley Greger, lead a demonstration about plant needs and soil to the Riverside fifth graders, as part of the Farm Bureau Connecting Chapters program. 🚨Science lesson Alert🚨 One of the most important roles a meerkat plays is that of the sentry, or watch guard. One meerkat will stand on its hind legs, propped up by its tail, and act as a lookout while the rest of the mob is outside looking for food and frolicking in the sun. Our 4th and 5th graders had an awesome hands on learning experience creating their own safety and danger calls mimicking what meerkats do! Awesome job by everyone! They were too fast to be caught by the predator! #BeACharger⚡⚡
The Riverside FFA Officer team attended the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation’s Connecting Chapters Program today in Genoa. The training helped the officers develop Ag Literacy skills. Through this program they will be reading an Ag book, teaching a lesson about Nebraska Ag, and hosting an Ag Literacy day for our elementary students!
The Goldenrod Conference Cross Country meet has been to Wednesday October 9th at 2PM due to weather expected. The meet will still be in Fullerton at the Pawnee Hills Gold Course.

On Tuesday, our XC athletes had a race at the Malcolm Invite at Branched Oak. Ryan ran another quality race just missing out on a medal placing 16th with an 18:30. Kobe finished with a 25:01. Riverside Public School receives FFVP Sponsor The USDA’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) provides funding to elementary schools to serve free fresh fruits and vegetables to children throughout the school day. The program is designed to help combat childhood obesity by teaching children the importance of developing healthy eating habits. The FFVP expands the variety of fruits and vegetable children experience and hopefully increases their fruit and vegetable consumption. Funds provided to each school cover the costs associated with administering the program including the cost of food and labor. Districts eligible must have fifty percent of its families qualify for free and reduced lunches. Riverside Public School no longer meets this criterion. We are so thrilled to announce that Henderson State Bank will sponsor the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program at both Riverside campuses for the 2019-20 school year. Today was AWESOME. Our Taking Charge @RSChargers students planned, prepared, & delivered lunch to Alf Metz. His smile, their smiles -- this is what life should always be about. What a fun evening watching our student athletes play the sports they love. Our Gatorade scrimmage was a great success and loved seeing all that summer work paying off for our students. Congratulations to the newest Riverside FFA American Dregree Recipients. Caitlin Langer, Kyle Noble and Macy Zentner will be receiving their American FFA Degree at the 92nd National FFA convention this fall. The American FFA Degree is the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization, the American FFA Degree shows an FFA member’s dedication to his or her chapter and state FFA association. It demonstrates the effort FFA members apply toward their supervised agricultural experience and the outstanding leadership abilities and community involvement they exhibited through their FFA career. American FFA Degree recipients show promise for the future and have gone above and beyond to achieve excellence. Caitlin, Kyle, and Macy, we are extremely proud of all your hard work. Good afternoon! We are close to the beginning of the year and excited for the start of school. This year, we will have KSB law firm at our schools giving a presentation on internet safety. This presentation is mandatory for a grade 6-12 parent or guardian to be present at and to sign a permission slip for the release of a school laptop. The date is August 14th (Wednesday). Spalding will start at 10:15am and go to 11:15am. Cedar will begin at 12pm and go to 1pm. You may attend either site. If you can not make one of these times, please contact the school office. Just under one month until we charge back to school! Some reminders as you prepare: 1.) Supply lists were sent home in the June Newsletter & can also be found on our website. 2.) Kindergarteners, 7th graders, and all JH & HS sports participants need to have current physicals for the 19-20 school year. Physical forms can be found on our website, the NSAA website, or picked up at school. Forms must be turned in before the first day of practice for Fall athletics!

Hello all football parents! I hope your summer is going well! Football season is just around the corner. We will have a team football camp from 9-11 am from July 22nd-26th. Then again from 5:30-7:30 pm the 29th-31st which would be the nights of the youth football camp. I apologize for the short notice. Please remind your boys of the schedule as well. Good morning Riverside families. Due to the current road conditions and anticipated weather the rest of the week, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, we will return to one pickup and one drop off site for Steve Vandewalle‘s bus route until further notice. We will have a pick up point in Belgrade at the bus barn at 7:15 AM and a drop off point around 3:55 PM. For those that will now be taking and/or picking your child up from school, the doors open at 7:30 AM for breakfast with classes starting at 8 AM. School dismisses at 3:36 PM for pick-up. We are sorry for this inconvenience and we will keep you updated when we are able to provide the normal busroute again.

With everything that has happened this past week, we were unable to collect very many RSVP’s for our Title I/STEM/Title III Parent night for next Tuesday, March 19. Please do us a huge favor by filling out this form to give us an idea of how many supplies we still need to collect. You only need to fill this form out if you have a Spalding site student in grades Pre-K thru 5th or a Riverside Middle School student.
