Riverside Public Schools was created in August 1, 2014 as a result of a merger of the Cedar Rapids and Spalding Public School Districts. The Riverside District encompasses the communities of Spalding, Primrose, Cedar Rapids, and Belgrade--approximately 273 square miles.
Both Spalding and Cedar Rapids facilities house PK-5 students. Spalding is home to all 6-8 middle grade students, while the district's 9-12 students all attend at the Cedar Rapids site. Riverside is a D-II district with a PK-12 enrollment of approximately 240 students.
We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, supportive environment where all students are given the opportunity to learn and grow. Staff and students benefit from a 1:1 Chromebook environment in grades K-12. We continue to achieve in academics, activities, and athletics. We have great students, teachers, and patron support!
Our Mission: Provide opportunities that inspire students to prepare, progress, and positively contribute to our global world.
School Goals:
1) All students will learn and apply writing strategies across the curriculum as measured by district assessments.
2) Riverside will promote the social-emotional development, safety, and well-being of children through Social Emotional Learning interventions, decrease the number of students in the “Need” range (red) on the DESSA, as well as decrease discipline referrals.
