Riverside News

I wanted to take this opportunity to share an update with all of you. It has been a very good start to the year with all things considered and I appreciate your patience. I am hoping to answer some questions and share some more information that could be helpful.

Hand Sanitizer

I would like to thank the University of Nebraska Food Processing Center on Innovation Campus, the UNL College of Engineering, and the Nebraska Fuel Ethanol producers for their donation of more than 50 gallons of hand sanitizer to be used at Riverside Public Schools this year. This obviously saves us a great expense but it also means the hand sanitizer is 80% alcohol-based and that alcohol comes from our state's corn growers. Thank you!

Cleaning and Disinfecting the Building

All staff has been hard at work to keep our building and furniture clean and disinfected. Our custodians have been disinfecting common surfaces throughout the day and disinfectant each room at night as well. We want to assure our community that we are doing everything possible to create a safe and clean learning environment.

Fall Sport Protocols

The kids are excited about fall sports and the extracurricular activities we are able to offer. I would like to discuss protocols for attending and participating in fall sports. We absolutely understand that everyone comes from a different place in this discussion, but in order to mitigate circumstances we are trying to make this a great experience, keep our seasons going, and have everyone get to see their kids play. We ask that you choose to follow our protocols so we are all able to enjoy the activities and not limit the number of individuals that can attend events. With the current recommendations from NSAA and the nature of our campuses, wearing a mask while in attendance provides the most safety for our student-athletes, coaches, workers, and patrons.

At football games, being outdoors makes it easier to social distance to take your mask off once you are seated. When close to others and moving around to restrooms and/or concessions, we ask you to put your mask on. Once volleyball home games start, we ask you to keep your mask on until you are seated. Once you are seated within your family or social distanced from others, you can take your mask off but we ask that you put it on if/when you are up moving around and when exiting. It is our hope that over the next few weeks the risk dial for our two health districts goes down and we can resume our policy of "recommended" rather than the current "required”.

Striv Channel

We know that some of you will choose not to attend our activities for a variety of reasons. For that reason, we have included the Striv link so you can continue to watch your child and our students. Please share this with those you feel might not be able to attend. https://striv.tv/channel/river...

I hope you are feeling positive about this school year and all that it brings. As always, if you have questions or need assistance, please contact me at stephanie.kaczor@riversideps.org.

Thank you! Ms. Kaczor
